This week's topic is EXO's Official Fan Club Name!

I recently posted an article about Sasaeng fans, and in this said article, it is stated that EXO mentioned something about creating an official Fan Club. This is to control, if not lessen these fan incidents through official fan activities and proper etiquette.

I then started to become really curious. I looked for news, articles and even recent events concerning this, but so far, only a few surfaced. One of these is the rumored Official Contest by EXO; this happened late April last year. Unfortunately, the page about this cannot be found anymore. I found a screen captured announcement instead, but I doubt if this is an official post from SM Entertainment because up to now, no official Fan Club name is revealed yet. 

Translation:

"Hello,

This is EXO’s representative.

EXO is very thankful for the heartwarming cheers they received from fans.
Now, we’ll give you more details regarding about fanclub name.

EXO’s Official Fanclub name will be chosen through this contest.
Please apply as the form given below.

EXO’s official EXO fanclub name will be chosen personally by the members. Winner with the best name will receive a personally autographed CD from the EXO members.
We ask fans to send in many applications, we expect a wide variety of opinions!

- Application date: from today (27/04/12) – Sunday, 13th May 2012.

Email subject: [응모] Fanclub Name / Entry name / Applicant’s Date of Birth / Contact Number
Email content: Meaning of the fanclub name you chose (must be provided!!)

1) 1 entry per e-mail, please do not send duplicates.
2) Make sure to write the meaning of your fanclub name suggestion, and fill the form properly.

I researched even further, and compiled these Fan Club names created by the loving EXO fans themselves.

I then decoded the Fan Club names of EXO as a whole and how they came to be. This is just my own insight and opinion. Feel free to note what's lacking. :)

1. Exotics - This gives a supernatural vibe. First and foremost, they came from EXO Planet and obviously, because of this they're aliens. Now they have become wolves. I don't even know what they'll be next! It’s sort of an exotic theme and I guess the company and their label sees it that way too. You'll never know what to expect next.

2. Exokiss - I guess a cross from EXO and U-Kiss?! (Laughs) But having released 'XOXO', their first album, this must mean one of the X's from that. So does this mean Exohug is on its way?

3. Exocist - This reminds me of The Exorcist. I guess fans from under this name gets possessed every single time they see EXO. They also maybe Sasaeng fans. I don't wanna comment further though, the name seems controversial as it is.

4. Moist - I really don't know how this came up. Sorry! (Laughs, 100 times)

5. Wendy - This is probably from their song, Peter Pan. EXO reportedly loved this name too, and fans all wanna be Peter Pan's (EXO) Wendy. But Wendy left and grew up. Maybe Tinkerbell? (I guess I came up with another name here. I'm laughing so hard now) Kekeke!~

To wrap all of this up, I think fans should stick with the name that truly represents the fandom. We are very diverse and unique. We are exotic! But, we also need to take note of EXO's preference. If you'll ask me, EXOTICS must stick until the end. Majority of the fans, including myself, have been calling themselves this. And this gives a more sentimental feel. This just means we love and treasure EXO so much. In addition, EXO's concepts are always new, fresh and unexpected. In short, they are exotic. It just fits in place! But regardless of what the name will be, I believe that we will always be one for EXO. We are one, we are EXO!

UPDATE!
I recently got in touch with a lot of fans like myself, and I got these interesting fanclub names for us. Here goes the short list:
    
1. Neverland - When EXO gets tired and wants to rest and go home, we will be their home. As Peter Pans who wants to stay young for us and make us happy, let us be their home. This can also be a movement to stop fan incidents and hurting them.
2. Galaexo - The galaxy of EXO. They shine for us, we shine for them. One galaxy, all for EXO.
3. Lost boys - This is for the male fans. Maybe this can be a sub-unit of the official name of the fanclub? Kekeke~ I sound really optimistic right now.
4. Tinkerbell - The counterpart of Lost boys. This is for the girls. Another sub-unit, I guess? :)

Kekekeke!~ By the way, the official fanclub name will be released SOON! (YAY!)

 UPDATE!

There are rumors circulating that EXOHOLIC would be the name for EXO's Fan Club. I really can't believe my ears. Is this finally happening?!

I'd gladly accept Yeoshin and Namshin for girl and boy counterparts in the fandom respectively, anytime of the day. But EXOHOLIC, seriously?!

But here's one truth, EXO is really very eager to have an Official Fan Club name. What can you say about this? Sign up for it! :)

• In preparation for EXO's official fanclub and the upcoming decision on its name and opening of membership, we are currently recruiting Fanclub Supporters.


• Supporters will be representatives of EXO's official fanclub members, as well as being in charge of (fanclub) members in different locations/districts, and they should be willing to serve as representatives of the members.


• For those who wish to apply for the role of Supporters just for the sake of seeing the artists up close, or to gain convenient access to official schedules - as this has nothing to do with the purpose of the role of Supporters, we ask that you refrain (from applying).


• For those who apply, the first stage of the selection process will be review of documentation (T/N: application form, identification documents, etc), and the second stage will be an interview. During the grace period before official fanclub activities start, (those chosen) will participate as temporary Supporters for S.M.ARTISTs' broadcasting activities.


• As the second round of interviews will be organised more locally to suit each district/location, we hope there are no errors/misunderstandings (T/N: with regards to how the when/where the second stage interviews will be, as it'll be organized on a more local level) and we ask that those who want to apply to be Supporters to read the information below carefully.

How the 'Supporter' system works:

• Fanclub Supporters: No separate president, vice-president, but just a suitable number (of Supporters) per each different location/district. Number of Supporters may vary according to the size of the fanclub


• (then it lists the different cities/locations/districts that will be headed up by the Supporters)

The application process:

▶ Application period: From now to Monday 30th September

▶ Requirements:

1) Prospective founding member of EXO's official fanclub (T/N: ie, They intend on becoming official fanclub members too)

2) Only those who are currently high school freshmen and older are eligible to apply (obtain permission from parents!)

3) Must be applying to be in charge of the same district you are currently living in, and be able to participate in activities in this district

4) Must have participated in at least 5 events/schedules! Not just studio audience tickets, but taken part as part of an official fanclub (T/N: Get to sit in special fanclub seats). (Please include under 'relevant experience').

• All the information regarding EXO's official fanclub membership will be available later on the official noticeboard, and we ask that the fans take interest in applying for the Supporters role. Thank you."

UPDATE!

EXOCYTOSISES, is EXO's Official Fan Club name, and DREAMS is the Official Fandom Color?! Can this really be true? Well if it is, this totally surprised me. But if the members picked these themselves, I won't really complain. But I expected something else to be honest. This is NOT CONFIRMED by SM Entertainment yet. Just rumors circulating the web. But I'll post updates as soon as they confirm this, and if legit sources surface. We got CHEN-FIRMED :)

FYI: Exocytosis (noun) the release of cellular substances (as secretory products) contained in cell vesicles by fusion of the vesicular membrane with the plasma membrane and subsequent release of the contents to the exterior of the cell.
