[ARTICLE] 130822 ‘Sasaeng fans go overboard.’ EXO talks about their true feelings and how to deal.

Unlike other boy groups who debuted the same year, EXO, boasting of 12 members is expected to have a larger fan turn-out. True enough, these boys have one of the biggest fandoms to date. They are grateful for all the love and support from their fans, however, when these fans turn into stalkers; the group wishes them to restrain themselves.

During a recent interview with Asia Today, EXO talked about their true feelings regarding some episodes involving these crazed fans commonly known as Sasaeng fans, and how to deal with them. The term ‘Sasaeng’ is used to describe a fan that tries their utter most potential to invade a celebrity’s personal life and is considered stalking.

The rising stars understand that their sasaeng fans do things out of love for the group, but when things go overboard, certain measures must be taken into consideration.

“We do have a lot of sasaeng fans. We understand that their actions come from their undying love and affection for us, and we’re thankful for that. However, we would really appreciate if they calm down just a little bit.”, the group stated.

EXO politely said that they want their sasaengs to fill a stadium of seats, but not necessarily the seats to their flights. They explained that the harassment of the group burdens other people around them, making them uncomfortable and unable to find peace. These fans even go to the extent of camping out near their dorms just to catch a glimpse of the boys, creating safety hazards and disturbing their neighbors’ personal spaces.

“We wish our sasaeng fans would exhibit proper manners and etiquette. We feel sorry for the damage caused to the innocent passengers and crew members...we are also sorry to our neighbors who are suffering from our fans," EXO said.

The EXO fandom is facing a lot of unruly behavior issues lately, but the boys hope that most of these will be resolved in the near future. The group is scheduled to launch their official fan club soon. Definite rules and regulations will be imposed, and with this, they expect fans to actively participate in official fan activities in an orderly manner and lessen the threats of sasaengs.
