SEOUL, Dec. 29 (Yonhap) -- South Korean boy band EXO has sold more
than 2.13 million copies of its five albums released in 2016, the
group's agency has said.
EXO sold about 796,000 copies of its
third full-length album "EX'ACT," released in June, and 374,000 copies
of its re-packaged album "LOTTO," rolled out two months later, the
band's management S.M. Entertainment said in a press release Wednesday.
EXO's unit album "Hey Mama!" with Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin
contributed another 276,000 copies to the sum, and Lay, EXO's China-born
member, raked in 260,000 copies with the solo EP "Lose Control."

Since its debut in 2012, EXO has grown into one of the most popular
K-pop boy bands in Asia. The band has done particularly well among its
Korean peers, with all of its three full-length albums achieving sales
of over 1 million copies.
EXO has been recognized at multiple
big-name music awards in Asia. At the end of this year, EXO garnered top
honors at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), the Melon Music Awards
and the Asia Artist Awards. It is shooting for more awards at the
upcoming Golden Disk Awards, to be held Jan. 13 and 14.
